Frank H. Woolf, age 98, passed away on December 16, 2023.
He was born on March 27, 1925 in Alliance to Herbert and Irene (Ruth) Woolf.
He graduated from Alliance High School before proudly serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
Frank worked at Taylorcraft Aviation in the inspection department and after earning his private pilot license, he flew new aircraft from the Alliance factory to California. In 1947 he joined Alliance Machine Co. and retired from there after 39 years of service.
Frank was a lifelong member of Christ United Methodist Church. He also served on the board of the Alliance Historical Society and was a member of the Glamorgan Castle Crusaders. He was involved in the Alliance Shade Tree Committee and the Alliance Senior Center. Frank served as past president of the Alliance Lions Club where he was also the Rose Day Chairman and Lion of the Year recipient. He was also a long term member of the Elks and served actively for 76 years. His rich knowledge of the community and his extensive volunteer work was quite noteworthy.
Frank loved traveling and enjoyed photography. He created several presentations for the Rodman Travel Series as well as for other organizations. Frank was also active with the Canton Camera Club. His home was always adorned with several of his award winning photographs. He loved to share stories with his family and friends, always with a smile. Frank will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joan M. (Kelty) Woolf whom he married August 9, 1947; second wife, Carol L. Woolf, whom he married November 14, 2010; and a brother, Bill Woolf.
A funeral service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Thursday, December 28th at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation two hours prior.
