Frankie Deen Blanton, 96, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away on June 17, 2025.
Frankie was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who spent her many years spreading joy and generosity to those around her, especially her family and loved ones. She was the fourth youngest of 11 siblings and the last surviving one.
Frankie was born in Baxley, Georgia, on March 24, 1929. Frankie graduated from Baxley High School in 1945 and attended Berry College in Rome, Georgia, but it was back in Baxley where she met the love of her life. She married John O. Blanton, Sr., on March 29, 1947, and they would go on to have two children and many happy decades together. They would eventually move and settle in Jacksonville.
Frankie worked in Civil Service at the USN Regional Supply at NAS JAX. After 30 years of dedicated service, in which she won numerous awards for exemplary work as an employee, she retired in 1986.
Later in life, Frankie enjoyed traveling all over the world and developed a keen talent for painting. Her paintings hang in the homes of many family members and vacation homes around the Southeast. She also was an active and talented tennis player. She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Orange Park Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in UMW circle, Altar Guild, and lending a helping hand where needed.
Frankie is survived by her son, John O. Blanton Jr. (Teresa) and daughter, Janet Blanton Robertson; grandchildren Delaine Janet Robertson, John O. Blanton III (Laura) and Dawn Robertson Powell (Carson); and great-grandchildren Halston Robert Powell, Perrin Emily Powell, Amelia Myrl Blanton and Ella Grace Westwood.
To honor Frankie funeral services will be held on June 25th at Orange Park Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, service starts at 11:00am, and burial to follow service at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in the Garden of Everlasting Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frankie's name to Orange Park Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

I´m sorry to say that I just now read the obituary for Frankie Blanton so I hope the family receives notification when a new messages added. I knew her from church, but I guess I didn´t really know her until I read her life story. I had no idea that she was from such a big family or that she went to Barry College in Rome. My son went to shorter college in Rome. I didn´t know that she worked out at the base where my former husband had worked or that she was a tennis player and an artist. I just knew that she was a vital part of Orange Park Methodist Church, where I have attended for over 30 years. I loved her and I admired her for all she did in our church. She will be missed, but we remain in everyone´s hearts.

Janet and Family: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your sweet mother, yet I am rejoicing at knowing that Frankie lived a life full of meaning and love serving her Lord. Working with Frankie at OPUMC in the Altar Guild, UMW and the Flower Ministry was a true blessing. She was always willing to do what needed to be done and often completed the tasks "behind the scenes." I can´t imagine how many times she prepped the candles for the altar or filled vases in preparation for flower arrangements to be delivered to our homebound congregants or how many thousands of palm crosses she counted to make sure that all members of the church would have one for Palm Sunday. Frankie set such an amazing example for all of us; she was truly a Godly Woman. I feel so blessed to have known her and to be inspired by her actions. I am praying that you can feel the arms of our loving God embracing you at this challenging time and know that Frankie will live on in our hearts forever. With Love, Norma Layton

Jo and Janet (and family), Frankie was such an important part of my early life, and I have many, many great memories of growing up next door to the Blantons. From teaching me how to swim before I could walk (did she ever learn to swim herself? :)) to the numerous haircuts she provided (particularly trying to fix a cut that Dolly insisted on trying). She made the best sweet tea in the neighborhood, and it was always funny how she got onto brother Ralph for not eating the bread crust of his sandwich. I always knew she loved us, as we did her. Our hearts go out to everyone during this difficult time, and you remain in our prayers. Love, Jess, Sheri, Andrew and Alex.

Joe: So sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I knew your mother when working in Public Works at NASJAX. We were also colleagues on the Civilian Food Service Board. On several occasions, I would see her at NAS Supply. She was a wonderful lady and friend.
Our prayers for you and Teresa.
