Franklin Coleman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner Funeral Home - Waynesboro on Jan. 14, 2026.
MR. FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT COLEMAN was born to the union of the late Mr. Tommy McMillian and Ms. Mamie Coleman. He always preferred to go by his second middle name, "Roosevelt." After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Army in November, 1963. Mr. Coleman served his country during the Vietnam Conflict.

He worked several jobs in the logging industry-saw man, skidder operator, and truck driver-but working as a truck driver was his main occupation. Mr. Coleman was a hard working man and kind to everyone. He was also known as a dapper dresser through the years. He was a long time deacon at Gin Creek Baptist Church in Gilbertown, AL. At the time of his passing, he was a deacon 29 years and 8 months.

During the late afternoon of January 10, 2026, Mr. Coleman departed his life while a patient at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS.

The many loving memories shared during his lifetime are left with his three sons: Roosevelt (Flora) Coleman, Jr. and Marcus (Mary) Ford both of Waynesboro, MS, and Charles (Robin) Ford of Lake, MS; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one uncle and aunt, Joseph and Ruby Coleman.

Funeral services for Mr. Coleman will be held Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Gin Creek Baptist Church in Gilbertown, AL, with Rev. Dr. Lewis Jefferson as the officiant. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

There will be a viewing period for Mr. Coleman Saturday afternoon, January 17, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
