Franklin was born in Sandy Ridge, VA, to his parents, the late Rolfe Hite, and Jane (Varney) Grizzel. He was a member at Bethany Old Regular Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN. He was a roofer by trade, and was a member of the N.R.I.P.P.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Venita Fern Grizzel; daughter, Ethel Jane Grizzel; as well as several brothers and sisters.
Franklin is survived by his daughter, Teresa Grizzel; granddaughter, Tia Johnson; great grandbabies, Kolsyn Repass, and Nalayah Johnson; and his brother, Truman Grizzel.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Bethany Regular Baptist Church in Kingsport. The graveside service will follow in the church cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, the graveside service will be held in the church sanctuary.
