Franklin Joseph Phillips, 75, passed on Saturday July 12, 2025 at home, after years of fighting illness.

Surviving is his wife Patti of 41 years, his son, Randy and wife Kellie, his son, Keith, and two grandchildren Brandon and Morgan. Also surviving are brothers Perry and Russell.

He was born April 02, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Joseph "Jay" and Elizabeth "Lib" Phillips.

He grew up in Huntersville, NC and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School, he immediately enlisted into the Air Force after high school.

During his enlistment in the Air Force, he served in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Shortly after returning from his military service, he started delivering freight to the Charlotte International Airport. Being around the airport brought about an interest in the airline industry. This interest led to his career at Piedmont Airlines/US Airways/American Airlines where he fulfilled jobs like cargo handler, freight manager, lead ramp supervisor, ramp team leader, and a period of time in the air traffic control tower as ground control. During his time in the airline industry he lived in Charlotte, transferred to Miami, Florida and ended his career back in Charlotte. During his career he made many friends that he deeply cared about and acquaintances that he never forgot.

Frank had a passion for the beach, mountain biking, cooking, and working in the flower garden.

A memorial gathering will be held on July 20, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Harrisburg Funeral & Cremation is serving the Phillips family. Please call 704-781-5665 if you have any questions concerning services.
