Franklin E. Wheeland

Franklin E. Wheeland, 69, of Newark Valley, passed away on February 16, 2025. Born on April 4, 1955, the son of the late Leroy Wheeland and Beverly (Carman) Wheeland, Frank's life was a testament to hard work and a love for his family and the outdoors.
Frank is survived by his loving children, Steven Mattscheck, Christina (Les) Furman, Tracey (Don Jr.) Swansbrough, Melissa Wheeland, Beverly (Roger Walburn) Wheeland, and Tamara (Mike Morse) Wheeland. Frank's joy was multiplied with the birth of each of his grandchildren: Franklin, Nikki, Russell, Roxanne, Brandon, Ashley, Tori, Marissa (Dylan), Max, Ryan, Micheal (Leah), Ruthanne (Chase) Alysha, Abigail(Chris), Gracie and Michael. He was also blessed to know the laughter and hugs of his great-grandchildren: Hayden, Gabriella, Jullianna, Ellyannah, Tate, Kaylon.
Additionally, Frank is survived by his siblings Leroy (Michelle) Wheeland, Debra (Tom) Judson, Judy (Paul) Alexander, Nate (Tina) Keener, and Christopher Keener, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
In addition to his parents Frank was predeceased by the love of his life Ruth Ann Wheeland in December. Together he and Ruth had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, he was also reunited with his brother Chuck Wheeland, and son-in-law Tim Chandler.
With his family being the cornerstone of his life, he had another love for the great outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing, as well as going to dirt track races and making the annual trip to the Demolition Derby at the Tioga County Fair.
Frank considered himself a gentleman farmer, with a love for animals, he always found joy caring for their horses, cows, pigs, and chickens. Frank will additionally be missed by his four-legged companions George, Theodore, and Rosey.
Family and Friends are invited to a service celebrating his life on Friday, February 21, 2025, at MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY at 2:00p.m. A period of visitation and sharing memories will take place from 1:00p.m. until the time of service.
