Fred Rogers Benson, Jr., 85, died June 21, 2025.
A native of Columbus, GA, Fred was the only son of the late Delia Alice Pirkle and Fred Rogers Benson. He was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High. Fred moved to the Athens area sixty years ago where he stayed, eventually making Oconee County his home. He spent his younger years on horseback & working as a Farrier. He loved the Lord and was a beloved father to his 6 children.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home Monday, June 23, 2025. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Tim Hunter officiating. All are welcome to attend graveside services.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Victoria Groover Benson; children, West (Lori) Benson of Canton, TX, Mark (Jennifer) Benson of Watkinsville, GA, Sherry B. (Jimmy) Smith of Roanoke, AL, Jackie B. Batson of Tuscaloosa, AL, Dee B. (Allison) Diget-Carden of Senoia, GA, Chance (Kelly) Benson of Bogart, GA; sister, Juanita Tate of Perry, GA; fourteen grandchildren and two baby-angels; seventeen great grandchildren.
