Fred Dickson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home on Jun. 11, 2024.
Mr. Fred Dickson, 97, of the Prices Creek community of Adair County passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, June 10, 2024.
He was born to the late Charlie Lee and Emma Shirley Dickson on September 28, 1926. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Moore Dickson; a daughter, Linda Dickson Wilson; two brothers, Carl, and Ernest Dickson; and two sisters, Lula Mae Bragg and Marie Dickson.
Mr. Dickson made a profession of faith at an early age and was a member of Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until recently when his health failed. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army as a medic. He was also a familiar face to many from his 44 years of employment at Adair Automotive. He will remain in our hearts as the strong, loving man we fondly called Dad, Pa Fred, and Poppy.
Survivors include a son Howard Dickson (Sue) of Edmonton, KY; a son-in-law Johnnie Wilson of Columbia, KY; four grandchildren Angela Shirley (Mark), Shannon Fields (Brian), Bradley Dickson (Sarah), and Marsha Shirley (Travis); eight great grandchildren Emma Murley (Luke), John Shirley (Rachel), Kelsey Judd (Kendall), Dylan Fields, Charlie, Chad and Chase Dickson, and Hayden Shirley; a great great grandson Levi Murley and several nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Shirley-Dickson Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00pm and will continue Thursday morning until 10:00am at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Bro. Keith Sanders and Bro Danny Dickson will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Bradley Dickson, Mark Shirley, Brian Fields, Travis Shirley, Roger Judd and Mike Sexton.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
