Fred A. Ewaldt

It is with love and sadness that we share the passing of Fred Ewaldt, age 92, who left this world peacefully surrounded by his family. Fred was an amazing dad and grandfather. Beloved husband of the late Georgiann (nee Holys) Ewaldt. Proud father to his children, Vanessa Schramm (Ewaldt), Fred Ewaldt, Cory Ewaldt, and grandson, Justin Schramm.

He grew up in Chicago and worked at Chicago Northwestern Rail Road before serving his country in Korea. He then worked for Marshall Fields for 27 years before retiring to Des Plaines with his son Cory. He spent the next 20 years working at Immanuel School in the H.U.G.S. after school program for kids before fully retiring to enjoy all his time with his family, friends and beloved dog, Lulu, for the last 10 years.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral service and interment will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, Illinois.
