In Loving Memory of Shirley Anne Moylan
August 2, 1930 - August 14, 2025
Shirley Anne Moylan passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the age of 95. Her warmth, strength, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her children: Marty (Lisa), Steve (Cindy), Jerry, Mickey (Dorothy), Kevin (Sharon), Tim, Bill (Karin), Bob, Mary, RoseAnn, Margie (Andy), Debbie, Dan (Nikki). She was a proud grandmother to 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin J. Moylan, Jr. ("Bud"); her son, Phillip; her sister, Rose Quinn; and her parents, Samuel and Rose Randazzo.
Born on August 2, 1930, on the west side of Chicago, Shirley attended Providence High School, where she enjoyed playing sports, studying, and spending time with friends. In 1950, Shirley married Bud Moylan, and they had 13 children together. After her husband died young in 1975, Shirley tirelessly raised her children, working numerous jobs to support the family.
Shirley was a devoted Catholic and longtime member of St. Angela Church. She later earned her GED certificate through sheer determination and hard work while also working full-time and raising her family. Shirley was a voracious reader and an avid follower of politics and currents events-she could hold insightful conversations with anyone and was admired for her intelligence and wit.
Shirley's radiant smile and quick sense of humor lit up every room. She was beautiful and had a great sense of style. At family get togethers, everyone would gather around Shirley as she told humorous stories about her children and made everyone laugh. Shirley found joy in spending time with family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was boundless, and her presence brought comfort and connection to all.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved and inspired. She will always be remembered for her resilience, her laughter, and the unwavering love she gave so freely.
We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating Shirley's wonderful life Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Shirley's name to an animal shelter of your choice.
