Fred "Glen" Heafner, 84 of Vale, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024, at Catawba Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family. Glen was born January 11, 1940, in Lincoln County to the late Dave and Moree Heafner. Glen was a member of Reeps Grove United Methodist Church. Glen’s pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Claude David Heafner, Jack Heafner, Margaret Ballenger, Bob Heafner, Peggy Neal, Frances Curtis, Charlie Heafner and Tommy Heafner.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Earlene Sain Heafner; children, Ricky Glen Heafner (Sherry), Karen Heafner Wilson (Johnny) and Pamela Heafner Houser (Shea); grandchildren, Rebecca Gantt (Donnie), Christopher Heafner (Meghan), Rachel Chapman (Ron), Heather Deyton (Jordan), Matthew Leatherman (Jill), Kaitlyn Houser, Lily Houser and Gwendolyn Houser; great-grandchildren, Noah Gantt, Nick Gantt, Addison Gantt, Eli Deyton, Treasure Chapman, Karley Gantt and Ella Shea Chapman; sisters, Linda Gilmore and Carolyn Canipe; sister-in-law, Judy Heafner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Shea Houser and Dr. Jonathan LeMaster-Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
