Fred M. Jackson, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025 @ Elderwood Long Term Care in Lake Placid, NY.
Fred was born on July 12, 1941 in Rutland, VT. After high school, Fred served in the U.S. Navy, and later in life, he worked on a farm in Crown Point, NY.
In 1966, Fred met the love of his life, Arlene Barcomb, in Winooski, VT. They were married for 55+ years. She predeceased Fred on October 22, 2021. Fred and Arlene also had one son, Freddy Jr., deceased in 2003.
In 1973, Fred became employed as a machinist by Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh, NY until his retirement in 2007.
Fred was truly a jack-of-all trades. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing guitar in a band and also worked on many cars, including his own stock car. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Fred was an outstanding athlete, enjoyed cycling, and competed in many triathlons. He was also an avid outdoorsman, including hunting and fishing.
In his later years, Fred enjoyed watching TV westerns. Old John Wayne movies were his favorite.
Visitation will be held @ Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 between 3-5 pm.
