Fred Junior Mabra Junior was born June 24, 1943, in Springfield, Ohio. Fred was born to a military family and lived in several different places over the course of his youth. After graduating high school in Germany, Fred returned to the States to attend Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. While there, he pledged the military fraternity Pershing Rifles. His membership in the fraternity helped Fred develop some lifelong friendships, including some that became extended family.
Upon graduation, He entered the military and served with the Army Military Police. During his service, he was posted in Germany, Vietnam and several posts across the U.S. Among his decorations are the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Bronze Star.
While serving as a Captain at Ft. Meade, MD, he met and married his partner through life, Mary McFadden in 1971.
After he retired from the Army in 1974, they returned to Springfield briefly, where he worked for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Eventually moving to California, Fred worked for a group of nursing homes in Monterey, before settling in Fairfield. While there, Fred was recruited to work with the Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Authority. Leaving the commute and stress behind, Fred started working for FedEx in Oakland. Finally retiring to his favorite occupation of full-time Grandpa, Fred spent endless hours in the company of his Grandchildren.
Fred passed peacefully on February 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Fred is survived by his wife Mary, son Justin, daughter-in-law Candice, Grandchildren Yesenia and Justin Jr., a brother and many cousins and friends.
