Fred Alvin Mathis, 75, of Fremont, died at the Fremont Promedica Hospital, after a heart attack, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
Fred was born in Green Cove Springs, Florida on September 3, 1947 to the now deceased Bernice (Cox) and Isaac Mathis.
He was a member of the Fremont Baptist Church.
Mr. Mathis retired from the Ford Motor Company after 32 years of employment.
He liked to camp and fish, along with playing pool, bowling and belonging to a dart league.
On May 15, 1967, he married Patricia Voorhees. She survives, along with their son, Steve Alvin (Pam) Mathis of Fremont. Three grandchildren, Dustin (Allison) Schoenfeld, Melissa Mathis (Jacob Egbert and Kandis (Michael) Rich survive. Seven great grandchildren, as well as three sisters, Mary Lou Lindsey of Huron, Judy Daugherty of Fremont and Deb (Bob) Milleson of Clyde also survive.
Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by a son, Mark Mathis in 1997, a granddaughter, Morgan Mathis in 2021 and siblings, Juanita Leers, James Mathis and Benny Mathis.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2:00 pm -6:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Morelock officiating. Burial will be in Block Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes or the American Heart Associations.
