Fred Jesse McCutcheon, Sr., 74, of Columbia, passed away on June 29, 2024. Born in Buffalo, NY, on August 6, 1949, he was a son of the late Robert and Elvira McCutcheon.
Fred graduated from Lancaster High School in New York. He was a passionate entrepreneur who owned many businesses throughout his professional career. He was a modest man who loved nothing more than celebrating the achievements of his loved ones. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved dogs, especially during the holidays.
Fred is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Murszewski McCutcheon; sons, Sean Clair McCutcheon, Sr. (Heather), Scott Edward McCutcheon (Sonia), Fred Jesse McCutcheon, Jr. (Allison); grandchildren, Megan Robson (Toby), William McCutcheon, Gabriel McCutcheon, Sean "Mac" McCutcheon, Jr.,Gracie McCutcheon, Rachel McCutcheon; and great grandson, Hudson Robson. His sisters, Gail Bell (late James), Mary Beth May (Kenny); brother-in-law, John Murszewski; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peggy Koch (Al) and brother, Robert McCutcheon, Jr. (surviving wife Pat).
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. McCutcheon will be celebrated at 2:30 o'clock, Monday, July 8, 2024, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, with The Rev. C. Alexander McDonald officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 o'clock at the church. A reception will follow the Mass at Wildewood Country Club, 90 Mallet Hill Road, Columbia. Interment in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Memorial Gardens will be held on August 6th, at 10 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
