Fred Fearrel Meatte of Steelville, MO was born on Saturday, February 26, 1955, in St. Louis, MO to Felie Fearrel Meatte and Frances Daphine Meatte, nee McCulley. He passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO at the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
Fred was raised in St. Louis and attended Fox High School in Arnold, MO. Fred met the love of his life, Debra "Deb" Wilkinson and together they made their home in Steelville, MO for 45 years. He worked at Stanley's Garden Center in St. James, MO for many years doing landscaping. He worked at Merritt's Sawmill in Steelville, MO for 15 years and for Poly Systems, Inc., also in Steelville, for 22 years before retiring. Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and being outdoors. He loved visiting his sister, Carol, in St. James, MO, and always looked forward to spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and loved to be with them. So much more could be said about Fearrel, how big his heart was, his loyalty, his courage, his strong will. He was a good man and greatly loved. He will be cherished and remembered always.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felie and Frances Meatte; loving companion of 45 years Debra "Deb" Wilkinson; sister Debbie Blair; and nephew Jimmy Blair.
Fred is survived by his children, Crysi Norris and Timmy (wife Amy) Wilkinson, all of Steelville, MO; sisters, Carol Ann Henderson (companion John Fox) of St. James, MO and Linda (husband Mark) Hogan of TX; 5 grandchildren, Madison Wilkinson of Columbia, MO, Jonathan Wilkinson, Lyssa Norris (companion Dallas Miller), Gunner Wilkinson and Fawn Wilkinson all of Steelville, MO; 1 great grandchild, Westin Norris of Steelville, MO and one on the way; nieces, Jennifer Hill of Los Angeles, CA, Tina Norris and Amanda Ostertag both of Rolla, MO, and Jamie Blair of Washington, MO; nephews, David (wife Angeline) Norris of Rolla, MO and Brian Norris of St. James, MO; other relatives, cousins and friends.
The family chose cremation as his final disposition. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
