Fred Napier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Buford Chapel on Dec. 16, 2025.
Fred Napier, 87, of Buford, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 2nd, surrounded by family.
Born in Hazard, Kentucky, he attended the University of Kentucky before entering the coal mines. Over the years, he worked as a foreman in multiple industries before choosing grading and excavation. In his words, he was able to "play in the dirt" for the rest of his working life with his "yellow paint toys" just getting bigger.
Fred was a hard worker who taught his children a strong work ethic and was proud of each of their accomplishments in their respective careers. He imparted Appalachian wisdom, generosity, and hospitality on everyone he met. Fred loved to travel, collect vintage cars, enjoy family, and spend time on their houseboat on Lake Lanier.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, five children, Mark (Lisa), Mick (Jennifer), Brian (Lynn), Kelley (Beth), and Asher (Beth), grandchildren Evan, Nicole, Dell, Lena, Jameson, and Xander. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Jones, and leaves behind sisters Pauline Hensley, Nancy Cathcart, and Von Boggs. He will also be missed by countless nieces, nephews, cousins and chosen family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Buford Community Center on January 10th from 3pm to 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to FriendsUNeed at friendsuneed.org or the Napier-Pollard Scholarship Fund c/o Von Boggs, 188 Middle Ridge Road, Bonnyman, KY 41719.On-line condolences may be expressed at www.crowellbrothers.com.
