Mr. Fred Dwight Whitfield Jr., 64, of Gadsden, died Friday, August 4, 2023 at Riverview Regional Medical Center. Funeral will be 3 PM Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Freedom Center on West Meighan Blvd. Pastor Bruce Word and Brandon Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow in Lawley's Chapel Cemetery in Sterrett, Al.
Fred was preceded in death by his son: Tyler Stovall; parents: Fred Dwight Whitfield, Sr. and Helen Leverton Whitfield.
Left to cherish the memory of Fred were his wife: Lynn Whitfield; daughters: Jennifer Stovall, Nakiah Whitfield, Analise Whitfield, Lilly Whitfield, and Angie Norton; chosen sons: Will Stovall, Jacob McKenzie, and Brandon Lewis; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sister: Tammy (Mike) Acre; brothers: Max (Tracy) Whitfield, Jeff (Jan) Whitfield, Teddy Whitfield, and Derrick (Tammy) Whitfield; a host of nieces and nephews.
Fred enjoyed mowing grass and scrapping metal. He loved being with his kids and grandkids. He volunteered and cooked at the Freedom Center and it brought so much joy to him to help others. He was a member of Freedom Church.
Pallbearers will be Will Stovall, Jacob McKenzie, Derek Whitfield, Jeff Whitfield, Max Whitfield, Justin Cook, Jonathan Cook, and Jalyn Miller.
In lieu flowers donations need to be made to the Freedom Center in memory of Fred Whitfield Jr.
Special thanks to the ICU nurses, Dr. Davenport and Dr. Osuji at Riverview Regional Medical Center.
