Freda May Warrick Ervin, 81, of Steubenville, Ohio, Cross Creek Township, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in her home.
Freda was born on September 10, 1943 in McDonald, a daughter of the late Emerson Blair and Gertrude Ellen Schrock Warrick.
Ms. Ervin was a retired nurse's aide working for over 42 years. Freda worked a number of places over the years and even some time with elderly individuals as their caretaker. She spent most of her time however at Horizons Senior Care and Atrium. She was a dedicated nurse and truly found so much joy in helping others.
Freda enjoyed chancing her luck at the casino. She loved turning forty dollars into something more and she was good at it! In her younger years, she enjoyed painting and acrylics. As time went on Freda spent time relaxing with a crossword puzzle or tending to her most prized possession, her rose bush.
Above all, the most important part of Freda's life was that of her family. She watched her family grow into over 100's of people and she could not have been more thankful for that. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her heart grew with every new addition in the family and she loved each one of them in her own special way. Freda was a strong woman and raised such a beautiful family who will always carry on her loving legacy.
Surviving are her children, James Charles Ervin Jr., Debra Sue (Mike) Chechuck, Jerffery Ross (fiancé Robin Dillon) Ervin, Freda May (Natalie) Ervin-Naegele, Anjeanette (Michael) Chechuck, daughter-in-law, Gwen Ervin,130 plus grandchildren and great grandchildren and a handful of great great grandchildren, brothers, John, George, Donnie, Blair and Bill Warrick, sisters, Ruthy Washington, Anna Mae Kinder, Trudy Greene, Emma Kinder, Faye Tabone, June Camp and Cheryl Muzzapappa, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents, Freda is preceded in death by her son, William Lee Ervin Sr, former husband, James Charles Ervin Sr., and sisters, Joann, Laura and Ruby.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A Service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
