Freda Imogene Morton

Freda Imogene Morton, 94, wife of Alvin T. Morton, Jr. received the peace and comfort of Jesus on October 22, 2024. She was born December 1, 1930, in Pulaski, TN. She was the daughter of Clara Rochelle Dooley and Jack Wardy Dooley of Lawrenceburg, TN.
Mrs Morton learned to love the Word of God from her grandparents Granville and Ada Rochelle. On that farm in TN, she was loved and cherished. Mrs. Morton was just 12 years old when WWII broke out. She lived mostly in Louisville, KY but went to Franklin County High School. A member of Southside Christian Church, she was a hardworking and loving wife, mother, Mamo, great-Mamo, great-great-Mamo, sister, aunt and friend. Her home and family were her focus. She was "second mother" to many nieces and nephews where she perfected the best bear hugs!
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin T. Morton, Jr.; her son, James Anthony Morton; a granddaughter, Whitney Morton Sachs; a great grandson, William "Bill Bill" Cooper, as well as two brothers Kenneth Adams and Hank Dooley, and a sister Gail Simpson.
She is survived by her daughter Gayla Morton Murphy (Terry), a grandson, Bryan A. Dalton (Heather), great-grandson Jack A. Dalton. One brother Mike Dooley (Margaret Ann), and one sister Deborah Crews (Murrell); grandchildren, Jonathan Murphy (Nicole), Rachael Brown (Josh); two great-grand daughters, Brittany Groves (David) and Macey Dannielle Smith (Conner): Four great-grandchildren, Jillian and Carson Murphy, Jacob and Elyse Brown; and four great-great grandchildren, Emma, Luke and Levi Groves, and Stone Smith (due March 2025); a loving daughter-in-law Jean Dixon Morton, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. We will be forever grateful for her love and guidance.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Visitation 10:30- 12 noon at
North View Baptist Church, 1742 Bryan Station Rd. Lexington, KY.
Pastor Terry Murphy officiating with Pastor Bobby Cairell. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
