Freda C. Nesselroade
Freda Campbell DeLong Uhl Nesselroade, 101, of
Martinsburg, WV, passed away February 11, 2023, at Hospice of the Panhandle, Kearneysville, WV. Freda was born August 7, 1921 in Pleasants County, WV. She was the daughter of the late John L. Campbell and Hazel Wherry Campbell.
Freda was a member of the Willow Island Baptist Church and was a member of the choir. She also attended Tuscarora Presbyterian Church in
Martinsburg, WV. She had previously been a member of the People Church in Boaz, a member of the United Methodist Church of Crossroads and had held several offices of the church. She had also been a member of the Calf Creek Church of Christ, where she taught a Sunday School Class. She retired as a manager, in October 1986, from the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service in Parkersburg, WV with 32 years of service. She was employed with the War Department in
Washington, D.C., Dils Brothers, and the Home Dairy in Parkersburg She was a graduate of St. Marys High School Class of 1941.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey (Ellen) DeLong,
Martinsburg, WV, and Dennis (Debbie) DeLong,
Raleigh, NC; two brothers Allen (Mary Ann) Campbell,
St. Marys, WV, and George (Lula) Campbell,
Kodak, TN; one sister, Juanita Haddox,
St. Marys, WV; eight grandchildren, Brian DeLong, Billy DeLong, Sarah Wolf, Shannon Langmead, Stephanie Vazquez, Sandra Kane, Jared McVey, and Andrew DeLong; sixteen great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; step-family, Jackie Taylor, David and Carolyn Uhl; five step-sons, Edward (Wanda) Nesselrode, John (Carolyn) Nesselroade; Dale (Bonnie) Nesselroade, Rev. Kenneth (Dee) Nesselroade, Dr. David (Julianne) Nesselroade; one step-daughter, Nancy (Gary) Kent; twelve step grandchildren, eighteen step great grandchildren, one step great-great grandchild; and several step-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Shannon L. DeLong in 1985 after 43 years of marriage; her second husband, Charles D. Uhl in 1989; her third husband, Rev. John Nesselroade in 1992; her in-laws, Harry and Bernice DeLong; one brother, John Russell Campbell; one sister, Betty Jean Blouir; grandson Shad McVey; two nephews, Randall Allen Campbell and Randall Allen Campbell, II; sister-in-law, Ruby Campbell; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Blouir and Joe Haddox.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Ingram Funeral Home in
St. Marys, WV, with Pastor Richard Cale officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Island Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday and from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
