Born on September 2, 1953, in Atlanta, GA, Freda's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Her warm and generous spirit touched everyone she met, leaving a legacy of compassion and joy.
Freda's professional life was defined by her unwavering dedication to serving others, driven by a deep compassion and commitment to public health. As a licensed practical nurse, then later becoming the Immunization Coordinator at the Clayton County Health Department for many years, she tirelessly worked to ensure the well-being of her community. Freda's work was not just a job, but a calling, and her efforts significantly impacted countless lives.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Freda's true joy came from time spent with her family. Known for her exceptional cooking skills inherited from her mother, she took pride in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones and having Sunday suppers that brought everyone together. She also had a passion for travel and adventure, often exploring the world on cruises and enjoying the beauty of the North Georgia Mountains.
Those who knew Freda will remember her as a sassy yet kind-hearted individual with a great sense of humor. Her strong will and natural leadership qualities left a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
Freda's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her enduring love story with her high school sweetheart, Walter Sheppard. Together for 52 years, their bond was a testament to true love and unwavering devotion. More than partners, they shared a deep and abiding friendship that saw them through all of life's ups and downs. Their love was a guiding light, not only for each other but also for their family. They poured their hearts into raising their only child, Chad Sheppard, with unwavering love and support. Freda and Walter were devoted parents instilling in their son the values of kindness, hard work, and integrity.
Freda leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be carried on by her surviving family members: Walter Sheppard (husband), Chad Sheppard (son), Ashley Sheppard (daughter-in-law), Phillip Walden (brother), Polly Walden (sister-in-law), Kristina (niece), and Toni (niece). She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, Fred Walden and Ruby Walden.
In loving memory of Freda Walden Sheppard, a celebration of her life will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors in Morrow, GA. A visitation will take place on July 25th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The burial will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough at 3:30 PM.
Freda's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who were touched by her presence. May she rest in peace knowing that she was truly cherished and adored by all who were privileged to know her.
