Freddie Mae Banks-Duriso, 74 of Beaumont, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital with her five children and loved ones.

Freddie Mae Banks was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1950 to the late Andrew and Doretha (Smith) Chambers. She graduated from Dewitt High School in 1968 in Dewitt, Arkansas. She was a long-time member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church. She worked at the Famous Pig Stand, Clairmont Nursing Home, and retired from Girls Haven.
True to her Arkansas Southern Country roots, Freddie Mae was an exceptional cook. She didn't need a reason to celebrate an event, where she would make a southern dish, which was generously shared. Cooking was one of her passions. She could make you love eating "air pudding and wind pie; Her hands were blessed when it came to cooking and cleaning. Cooking for her family brought Freddie great joy, and through it, she proudly shared her southern cultural heritage.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Mozetta Chaney, Wanda Chambers, and brothers: Martin V. Smith Jr., Bernard Smith, Greg Chambers, and Clifford Smith.
Remaining to cherish Freddie Mae's memories are her husband, Jimmy Duriso; three daughters, Aretha Bruno (Brian Bruno), Rachiel Guidry, Erica Banks; two sons, Aaron Banks, Ivan Banks (Nicole Banks); a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Freddie is also survived by two brothers, Alvin Smith (Donna); Tyrone Chambers (Wanda); Rosetta Smith and Bertha Chambers; and many nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the CNAs, Hospice Nurses, and AVIR caregivers who took care of Freddie Mae over the past year, and the friends and family who checked on her daily.
