Freddy K. Edwards passed away at the age of 72 on September 15th, 2024, while surrounded by family and friends under the compassionate care of the VA staff in Oklahoma City. Freddy was born on December 5th, 1951, in Pineville, West Virginia to Harry and Virginia Lee Edwards.
Freddy grew up in Pineville, West Virginia where he graduated from high school. When his father retired from coal mining, Freddy and his twin brother Teddy enlisted in the military. His parents, brother Todd and sister Harriet relocated to Erwin, Tennessee.
Freddy enlisted in 1971 where he spent 22 years in the Air Force. Through multiple deployments he received the following decorations, awards, ribbons and medals: Air Force Commendation, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Training Ribbon. The job he was the proudest of was his time as Crew Chief on B52 bombers. Throughout his service, he was stationed at Okinawa Air Force Base, Minot Air Force Base, and Tinker Air Force Base. He served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and retired in May of 1993 at the rank of Master Sergeant. He took great pride in being there for his people when they were in a time of need. After retirement he opened his full-time automotive repair shop that he ran for many years. He also worked on Tinker Air Force Base as a government contractor for more than 10 years.
Freddy had a love for cars, he had a knack for troubleshooting and repairing anything with a motor. He loved watching old westerns and anything that had to do with Elvis Presley. He was a collector of many things, at one time had an extensive album collection and a passion for music. Freddy was a jack of all trades and a master of none.
Survived by daughter Gwen Manzini and her significant other James Brown of Grand Forks, North Dakota, son Keith and his wife Katie Edwards of Harrah, Oklahoma, Grandchildren Cole and Emma Manzini of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Ember Edwards of Harrah, Oklahoma, brother Todd and his wife Betty Edwards of Waynesboro, Virginia and many friends he has made over the years. Preceded in death by daughter Samantha Edwards, sister Harriet McIntosh, and brother Teddy Edwards.
A Memorial service will be held at Ford Funeral Services on Friday, September 20th at 10 A.M. 305 South Sooner,
Midwest City, Oklahoma 73110. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to Dale K. Graham Veterans Foundation in lieu of flowers.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the VA hospital in Oklahoma City for their compassionate and patient care of Freddy during his final three weeks of life, as well as the overwhelming support from friends and family. They also wish to express special gratitude to his significant other, Linda Young, and his longtime friend, Chuck Rochat, for their unwavering love and support.
