Frederick "Fred" Grimshaw, 82, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Karen (Govan) Grimshaw who preceded him in death just one month earlier.
Fred, or Skip as he was known to many, was born May 29, 1943, to Frederick Grimshaw, Sr., and Mary (Keddie) Grimshaw, and was raised in Medford, MA, A dedicated patriot, Fred studied engineering at the United States Naval Academy, where he pursued his passion for aviation and became a flight pilot. During his military service, he earned several commendations and honorable mentions for his commitment and excellence. After his honorable discharge, Fred continued his career at Boston Edison, where fate brought him together with his future wife and soulmate, Karen A. Govan.
Fred and Karen shared a beautiful life-one filled with adventure, laughter, quiet moments of understanding, and a love so deep and enduring that it became the hallmark of their story. Their bond was so profound that they departed this life within a month of one another, each carrying the other's heart with them. Their love remains an everlasting testament to devotion, partnership, and the power of two souls truly intertwined.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Frederick Grimsahw his brother Gregory Grimshaw, and his beloved wife Karen.
Though he has left this world, Fred's gentle spirit, generous heart, and the love he shared so freely will continue to live on in the family and friends who were closest to him. Fred and Karen are together once more - reunited in the timeless bond that defined their lives. Fred leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, service, and unwavering love. He was a gentle soul with a heart big enough for all around him. Fred touched the lives of everyone he knew and left an indelible mark on countless hearts.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), in Mashpee. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 5 Job's Fishing Rd., in Mashpee. Burial will immediately follow at 12:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., in Bourne.
