Frederick Hines, Sr. Obituary
Frederick L. Hines, Sr. of Brooktondale passed away on February 25, 2024, at Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca, NY, at the age of 70. Born on November 23, 1953, in Ithaca, he was the son of the late William G. and Alice (Curtis) Hines.
After graduating high school, Fred embarked on a long career driving tractor trailer for New England Motor Freight in Owego, NY. When he retired from driving, he worked as a mechanic and briefly in the dairy farming industry. Fred enjoyed a simple lifestyle and was fulfilled with his work and passion for hunting and fishing. Nothing, however, was more important to Fred than his family and spending time with them.
Fred is survived by his sons and those whom he considered sons, Lawrence, Vincent, David and Travis; several stepchildren; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, George, Joel and Sue; and longtime childhood friend, James Cornell.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sons, Fred Jr. and Jonathan; and siblings, Wesley, Raymond and Edna.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, services will be private. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
