Northbridge, MA – Frederick Conrad MacNeil, "Fred", age 67, died March 17, 2025, on Hilton Head Island where he was enjoying a golf holiday. He was the cherished husband of Kathleen (Carignan) MacNeil and the loving father of Nicholas and Alexander MacNeil.
He was born in Waltham, on October 10,1957, a son of the late Frederick and Jean (Conrad) MacNeil. He graduated with the class of 1976 from Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School. After graduation, Fred served in the armed forces, stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
Prior to his retirement, Fred was employed for many years as a fire protection designer at EM Duggan, Canton, MA and was a member of Sprinkler Local 550. He worked on several high-profile projects in the Boston area including the MIT Stata Center and 75 State Street. He met his wife, Kathleen, while working on one of her development projects.
Fred was an avid golfer and member of Shining Rock Golf Club. He liked his sports cars, his lunch at Kapi's, his annual trip to Aruba, and other travels. His greatest joy, however, was spending time in the company of his loving wife and family, especially his adoring grandchildren for whom he will forever be "Grumpa Fred".
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by twin sons, Nicholas of Mullica Hill, NJ and his wife, Christiana (Codario), and Alexander of Woodstock, CT and his partner, Molly Harrington: 5 grandchildren: Anastasia, Violet and Alexander, Jr., Caroline and Zeke; 4 sisters: Mary Ryan of Glouster, VA, and her husband Gary; Jeanne D'Amato of Whitinsville, MA, and her husband, Richard; Pamela Conrad of Whitinsville, MA; and Susan Burchard of Springfield, VT; and a brother, Donald of Weymouth, MA, and his wife, Kym.
Fred also leaves behind several sisters and brothers in-law, his mother in-law, Theresa Carignan, several nieces and nephews, and many, many close and loving friendships.
Relatives and friends are invited to Memorial Calling Hours from 3-7PM, Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Carr Funeral Home, Hill St., Whitinsville, MA. Fred's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM, Monday, March 24, 2025, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St., Upton, MA. Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Valentine Project, 301 Central Ave. PO Box 103, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926-1638, or valentineproject.org

Please accept my thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Fred.
When I was informed of Fred´s passing, it was like being punched in my gut. Fred was the gentleman that I waited on every week when he made the turn at Juniper Hill GC. I looked forward to seeing him every week. He made my day. Freddie would come to my window and always order a "Barker ( Hot Dog ) and a Bud Lite.
Rest in Peace my Friend.
