Perry – Frederick "Fred" "Goat Roper" Lee Perry, Jr., age 75, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Ascensions St. Vincents Clay County in Middleburg with his loving family by his side. Fred was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 21, 1949, to the late Frederick Lee Perry, Sr. and Dolly Mae Smith Perry. He was raised in Jacksonville and graduated from Nathan B. Forrest High School in 1966. Shortly after school, Fred relocated to Baker County where he met his best friend and forever companion, Kathy Jeanine Pittman. They were happily married on July 28, 1979, and were blessed with 46 amazing years together, 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one more on the way. Fred began his career as an Equipment Operator and later furthered his education earning his certifications in pipefitting and plumbing. He proudly served for many years as a Plumber with the Local 13 Union in Jacksonville. Fred was dedicated to his profession and was known for always working hard. He continued his career at Florida State Prison, New River Correctional Institution, and finally at Gainesville Correctional Institution serving as their Maintenance Supervisor. More than anything, Fred was an outdoorsman at heart. His greatest passion was hunting, and he especially loved listening to his dogs bark as they chased down the next big buck. On the CB radio, he was known as "Goat Roper", a handle that became familiar and beloved nickname among his friends. Fred enjoyed fishing and found peace and joy by the water. Most of all, Fred was a family man who cherished spending precious time with his loved ones. He was certainly treasured and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Sigers; and brother-in-law, Tommy Sigers.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Perry of Macclenny, FL; children, Frederick "Lee" (Cassandra) Perry, III of Port Orange, FL, Kimberly Perry (Rob) Gasper of Dunnville, Ontario Canada, Brian (Michelle) Perry of Macclenny, FL, and Jerrod Perry of Starke, FL; brother, Darryl (Susie) Perry of Kingsley Lake, FL; sisters, Linda (Robert) Albritton of St. Cloud, FL, and Cindy (Dwayne) Raulerson of Glen St. Mary, FL; grandchildren, Frederick Lee "Derrick" (Autumn) Perry, IV, Jilleen Perry, Alexcis Perry, Patrick Shamp, Preston (Kayla) Stone, Madison Gasper, Corbin Lane Perry, Cameryn Brooke Perry, Hadley Grace Perry and Piper Jean Perry; great grandchildren, Leanna, Dawson, Drew, and one grandson on the way; along with numerous nieces, nephew, cousins, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Fred's Life will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services with Pastor Gary Melvin officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
