Fredrick C. Leverenz, 85, of New Holstein, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center. Fred was born September 26, 1939, in Plymouth, to the late Allen and Lydia (Tamm) Leverenz. He attended grade school at Lowell School and was a 1957 graduate of New Holstein High School. Fred proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 until 1959, where he was stationed on a hospital ship at Long Beach, CA. On August 22, 1958, he married the former Edith Nelson at the Naval Chapel on the base in Long Beach.
After serving in the military, Fred farmed in the Town of New Holstein until 1987. After farming, he held different positions around the area. Fred was known for his hard work ethic, volunteerism, farming, faith, singing and socializing. In his retirement, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels until April of this year.
Fred was an active member of the Kiel JC's, holding offices at the state and national level. He was a lifelong member at Bethel United Methodist Church. Fred served as the past president, was in charge of the church grounds and cemetery, sang in the choir and was an usher. He was a delegate to the Wisconsin Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of Volunteers in Mission and Easter Seals and spent countless hours helping others. As a member of Men of Harmony, he enjoyed sharing his faith through music with his friends and fellow singers. Now he is singing with the angels in heaven.
Fred enjoyed golfing in the Kiel Golf League for many years and was in various County Dartball Leagues. He also collected toy tractors and enjoyed going to shows along with going on antique tractor rides.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edith; his children, Loraine (David) Mueller, New Holstein, Christine (Paul) Wiltzius, Campbellsport, Mary Jo Starkson, Rochester, MN, Andrew Leverenz, New Holstein, Paul (Julie) Leverenz, New Holstein, Debora (Jeff) Goeldi, Racine, MN, Karl (Stefani) Leverenz, Howards Grove and Thomas (Kris) Leverenz, New Holstein; 19 grandchildren, Patrick (Mandy) Wiltzius, Joseph (Ashley) Wiltzius, Michael (Emily) Wiltzius, Danielle Geistfeld, Benjamin Geistfeld, Nicole (Travis) Johnson, Charles Starkson, Alec (Kelsey) Finn, Rachel Leverenz, Erin (Quinten) Lisowe, Michael (Shannon) Goeldi, Nathaniel (Kierden) Goeldi, Jacob (Adriana) Goeldi, Allison Leverenz, Abbigail Leverenz, Addilynn Leverenz, Amber (Devon) Freund, Katelynn Leverenz, Calvin (Mya) Leverenz; 14 great-grandchildren, Mikayla Wiltzius, Annalee Wiltzius, Charles Wiltzius, Liliana Wiltzius, Hayden Johnson, Bennett Goeldi, Declan Goeldi, Zulysa Nique, Quinson Nique, Winslow Nique, Ophelia Goeldi, Landon Lefeber, Dawson Schmitt, Daphne Schmitt; further survived by a sister, Barb Schulz, brother-in-law, Richard (Judie) Nelson and sister-in-law, Charlotte Nelson along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan and his brothers-in-law, Alfred Nelson and Gerald Schulz.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rocky Knoll, especially Kelly and Libby for making him laugh and lifting his spirits every day. Also, the many friends who visited Fred in person or by phone. Every visit was special and appreciated.
Funeral services for Fred will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home (815 6th Street, Kiel) with Rev. Wendy Witt officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Please visit www.meiselwitzfh.com to send online condolences.
