Thomas Leverenz Obituary

Thomas R. Leverenz

Thomas Richard Leverenz, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the age 61, having succumbed to complications from Type 1 Diabetes. He was born on March 12, 1964, to Richard and Roberta Leverenz, who preceded him in death. Tom was a graduate of Start High School where he played hockey and lettered in soccer. After graduation, Tom worked at Metal Forming and Coining Corp. until his retirement in 2013. Tom was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Flyers, and the New York Yankees. He loved his dog, Maggie, and he enjoyed rock and country music, especially Pat Benatar, Kiss, and Melissa Etheridge.

The youngest of seven children, Tom, especially enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations. He was the proud father of two sons, Patrick (Sara) and Matthew, and the loving grandfather to Jackson and Vada. Although they lived out of town, they remained close.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Tom is survived by his longtime companion, Sharon Knuckles; his five sisters, Kathleen (Farzod) Emdad, Nancy Creecy (Larry Moorehead), Sue Ann, Jean Wright, Barbara (Robert) Stickels; and his brother, Jeffery (Pam); as well as 13 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and nephews.

Tom's sense of humor and outlook on life will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. Following Tom's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in celebration of his life at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2770 Central Avenue, on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

My most sincere and deepest sympathies to the Leverenz family on the passing of their brother Tom. I had the wonderful privilege of knowing Tom as a friend, co-worker, and family friend. Tom had an infectious laugh and could light up a room with his stories. He loved to talk about his favorite rock group KISS and his boys. Tom will surely be missed by those whose lives were touched by him. Tom, may you find peace and joy in the glory of God's light, now and forever.

I was so sorry to hear of Tommy's passing, way too young! He was a great kid and I'm sure will be missed by many. One thing I know for sure, he had a great family to support him through his illness! Randy Guntsch

I was one of the many Overland Pkwy neighbors. Tommy will always be in my memory as Jeff's little shadow. Anything Jeff did, Tommy would follow. Tommy loved joining the neighborhood kids playing "Spy", and kickball out in the street... but he'll always be remembered as Jeff's little shadow. Rest in Peace, Tommy.
