Freya Harris, a beautiful and remarkably 24-year-old calico girl of Tristan and Heather Harris from
Westport, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Freya has been a part of Tristan's life since he was 10 years old, and he permanently inherited her in 2016 after his father, Laddie, passed away. Freya was born in central Oregon. According to Tristan, Freya "was very vocal"; whenever she needed you to do something, she'd let you know, even if she just wanted attention. Tristan shared, "Now that she's gone, it's very quiet in the house." Tristan relayed that her personality was "loving and lazy; she didn't really play around too much. She just wanted to be next to somebody."
Freya fit the personality traits of her calico breed; Baxter Animal Hospital states, "Calicos have a reputation for unique personalities, sometimes referred to as 'catitude." They tend to be strong-willed and a bit hot-tempered, and they can be very possessive of their human. Other words used to describe them are "fiercely independent," "feisty," and "unpredictable."
Tristan shared, "When we moved to Indiana, we had to get her medication so she wouldn't attack us while driving."
Tristan relayed a few of his favorite memories of his time with Freya. "Back in high school my brother Andy Gore came over to visit. Freya was trying to leave out the front door because at this time she was still an outdoor cat. He tried to pick her up and mess with her, but she was not having it when he put his bare foot out to stop her. She hopped out the door and left a little Hershey squirt on his foot. We had a good laugh at that one at Andy's expense.
He recalled, "Back in October 2022 we were renting out an Airbnb because our house needed some work done as we were on the second-story back patio with all the animals. Heather tried to take her outside as well; it was a nice warm day, and she was not happy, freaking out, yelling at the back door, trying to let her back in. From outside Hunter to indoor Princess is what she became."
Tristan remembered their move from Colorado to Washington state: "We were cutting through a snowy pass while she was panicking, freaking out, wandering around the car for hours. She eventually slipped between my right leg and the dash as I was driving to get behind the pedals all of a sudden, I lost power and came to find out. She turned my ignition key off as I was going about 65 and scared the hell out of me."
Tristan recalled "Giving her, her first bath. We both learned a valuable lesson that day. I wouldn't do it again, and she keeps herself clean." She did, however, love being brushed.
What Freya valued was Tristan and food the most in her life.-according to Tristan, "Most mornings. I'd wake up to her curled up next to me, then immediately start yelling for breakfast when I got up."
After Freya "lost some teeth, she would still eat kibble, but for Friskies wet food, she would mow down on it."
Freya's nickname was "bitchy kitty" because of how vocal she was.
Freya's favorite people were Tristan, Heather, and John Gore, her adoptive grandfather figure-after Tristan's father passed away.
Tristan shared that her favorite object was "the house, once I took her in and she became an indoor cat. She never wanted to go outside again. Which was the main part of why she hated car rides."
Freya was loved, and her loving, spunky, feisty spirit will be missed.
In addition to Tristan and Heather mourning the loss of Freya are her human family members: Lars Harris, Kristin Harris, John Gore, Andy Gore, Twila Gore, and Jeremiah Chrestler. Also missing Freya are her fur siblings: dogs, TYR, Tater, and Sif, and cats, Randall and Ringo. Freya was met crossing the Rainbow Bridge by Laddie, her human daddy who preceded her in death.
