Frieda G. Candler

Frieda G. Duncan Candler, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Born on April 25, 1947, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Frieda was 78 years old at the time of her passing.

Frieda attended Hendersonville High School, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication and warmth. She enjoyed a fulfilling career as an accountant before retiring to focus on her family and passions, including tending to her beautiful garden and nurturing her cherished roses.

Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, Travis J. Duncan and Ruby Sweezy Pruitt, her son Tony Candler, and her brothers Eddie Duncan, Jasper Duncan, Steve Duncan, and Kenny Duncan. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Clyde Candler; her son James Candler; and her grandson Joshua Candler. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Duncan of Greenville, South Carolina, Peggy Duncan and Irene Munoz both of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Debbie Phillips of Flat Rock, North Carolina, and her brother Glenn Duncan of Dahlonega, Georgia. Numerous loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends will also cherish her memory.

Services to honor Frieda's life will be held on Monday, October 13th, 2025. A visitation will take place from 1 PM to 2 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2 PM, officiated by Reverend Steve Rhinehart.

Frieda's gentle spirit and unwavering kindness will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of those she loved and tended to with such care.
