Frieda Helena Wetzel, age 85, of Wells, MN, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Assembly of God Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor David Harms will officiate and interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Please see www.brussheitner.com to leave online condolences. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN is in charge of arrangements. Frieda Helena was born July 7, 1927 in Towne of Maine, WI, the daughter of Hugo and Bertha (Radtke) Froehlich. In support of the war effort she traveled to Bremerton, Washington in 1945 and was a Rosie Riveter making marathon batteries. She was united in marriage to Elmer J. Wetzel on November 19, 1949 in Merrill, WI. Frieda worked at Banquet Foods for 30 + years. She was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God Church in Wells and enjoyed taking part in many activities with the church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Frieda had many hobbies and interests including baking cookies, reading, shopping at Herbergers, watching TV, sitting on the deck, bird watching and storytelling. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frieda was a very loving and compassionate woman, toward her family as well as toward her friends and neighbors. Leaving to cherish loving memories are her children, Alan (Lynn) Wetzel of Vadnais Heights, Beverly (Roger) Sonnek of Loves Park, IL, Gary Wetzel of Wells, Daryl Wetzel of TX, Timothy (special friend Amy Newman) Wetzel of Alden, Kristine Wetzel of St. Peter; 7 grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Travis, Alyssa, Michael, Liana and Tharon; 7 great-grandchildren, Brittney, Jasper, Hailey, Kaden, Lucas, Mason and Oscar; 7 siblings, Leslie (Helen) Froehlich of Schofield WI, Clifford (Pauline) Froehlich, Henry (Joan) Froehlich, Steven (Shirley) Froehlich and Lucille Froehlich all of Wausau, WI, Erna Anderson of Springfield, OR, and Ruth (Ed) Kruit of Iron River, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews along with their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, granddaughter Amanda Henion, and siblings, Walter, Ada, Clarence and Betty.
