Gabriel Michael Griffith

Gabriel Michael Griffith, 22 of Saint Albans WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday July 13th, 2025. Gabriel had been in a persistent vegetative state since August the 5th 2011 after suffering an anoxic brain injury. He was cared for at home by his family. Gabe was born in Beckley WV, moving to Saint Albans in 2007. He attended elementary school at Lakewood Elementary School until sustaining his injury between his 3rd and 4th grade years. He continued through school in the homebound program, which was the direct result of his selfless and loving homebound teacher, who pushed off retirement for two years until Gabe graduated. He graduated from Saint Albans High School in 2021.
Before Gabe's injury he played football for the Tornado Tigers and baseball for Saint Albans Little League. He enjoyed reading books, playing video games, and attending church. He enjoyed singing and had a very eclectic taste in music, anything from gospel, Ray Stevens, Jonny Cash, (Ring of fire), a little Elvira, U2, and even Van Halen. In church he knew no strangers, handshakes and hugs all around. As a pastor's son, Gabe was in a number of churches, Faith FWB in Danese WV, Gordon FWB in Charmco WV, Highlawn Baptist in Saint Albans WV, Faith FWB in Saint Albans WV, Garrison Ave FWB in Charleston WV, One Accord in Hurricane WV and Community Chapel in Cross Lanes WV.
Gabe is survived by his Parents Karle and Tabbie Griffith of Saint Albans. Sister Kaitlyn Griffith of Saint Albans. Grandparents Karle and Linda Griffth, Grandfather Robert Cain of Saint Albans, Grandmother Duaina O'Dell of Winfield. Gabe also had a number of friends who stayed in touch through the years and would always ask about him. To all the community who were there for Gabe and our family throughout the last fifteen years, Gabe and the entire Griffith family want to express our sincere love and gratitude.
