Gabriel R. Hernandez Born September 29, 1964, in San Antonio, TX to Antonio Hernandez and Eudelia Rodriguez. Gabriel was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the blessed age of 60. He is reunited in heaven with his parents and sister, Monica Mata. To know Gabriel was to know warmth, laughter, and love. A man who never met a stranger, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them feeling seen, important, and cared for. His pride and joy was always his family-his beloved wife of 31 years, Laura Diane, and their daughters, Jaclyn Cantu (Jarred) and Valerie Hernandez. They were his world, and every decision he made, every ounce of work he poured himself into, was for them. He ensured they lived full and beautiful lives, instilling the value of education and faith, and surrounding them with his unwavering devotion. Gabriel was the hardest worker, dedicating 40 years to the construction industry, most recently serving as General Superintendent for CAPCO. A true handyman, he could fix or build just about anything, always making sure his home-and later Jackie and Jarred's home-were cared for with the same pride he carried in everything he did. He embodied what it meant to be a provider, not just through his work, but through the love and security he gave his family. At the same time, Gabriel lived life with joy. He was social and outgoing, always ready to dance, laugh, and celebrate with those he loved. His booming laugh, radiant smile, and gentle spirit made everyone around him feel comfortable, safe, and accepted. He balanced strength with tenderness, fun with calm, and love with loyalty in a way that made him unforgettable. Gabriel's presence was a gift to all who knew him. He leaves behind countless memories, a legacy of love, and an example of what it means to live for family and faith. Heaven has gained a treasured soul, and he will live forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

Earlier today

My life was forever blessed meeting my friend, mentor of faith and coworker and his amazing wife. Gabriel will be carried in my heart and memories forever. No matter the amount of time you had with him, you felt like you had known him for a lifetime. I shall lift his name and his family up to the Lord each day, thanking my savior for placing them on my path. We were always laughing and carrying on like siblings. Love you forever brother in Christ and until we meet again, "see you later".
