Gabriella Hebert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home on Aug. 28, 2024.
Gabriella Hebert, 63, of Farmington, daughter of Normand and Graciela Hebert and spouse of the late Tom Benedict, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Gaby, as she was affectionately known, was born on June 21, 1961, in Middletown, CT. Gaby's education began at Hamden Hall Country Day School, succeeded by Ohio Wesleyan University receiving her B.A. degree with a double major in Economics/Politics and Government. She continued her education receiving an M.B.A. degree in Marketing from the University of New Haven. As an undergraduate she was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, National Honor Society for Politics and Government and Omicron Delta Epsilon, National Honor Society for Economics.
Gaby's professional career began with her passion for politics and government working for Governor Weicker's 1990 gubernatorial campaign. As campaigns proceed Gaby wore all the hats attempting to get her candidate elected, however, her insight in administrative and organizational skills did not go unnoticed. Gaby proceeded to work in the Governors Office from 1991 to 1993 before moving to the Department of Economic Development as Assistant to Commissioner Joseph McGee. For two years Gaby worked as Office Manager for Trantolo and Trantolo, Attorneys at Law, in Hartford before settling into the role of Executive Assistant for Glenn Dorr at Northwestern Mutual where she was to become a mainstay for thirty years working for successive General Agents, Randy Riley, Jeffrey Zuzolo and Dante Pizzuti.
Gaby will be remembered for her intelligence, thoughtfulness and selflessness. While performing her own duties she always had time for others. Husband Tom and Gaby were most compatible in their enthusiasm for current events, their crazy Chihuahua dog "Gizmo", and anything electronic, they were the "wizards". Graciela and Gaby for many years could be found at UConn Women's Basketball games and no Bruins fan could ever get the better of her when it came to her beloved Rangers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Church of St. Patrick, Farmington, immediately followed by graveside services at Riverside Cemetery in Farmington.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the nurses and staff of the Smilow Cancer Center at Saint Francis Hospital for their professional care and emotional support. Doctor Alessia Donadio performs her duties with clinical excellence, most important with love and compassion. Nurse Jean Mumley represents the very best of all Medical Professionals with her personal care. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com

I am stunned and deeply saddened by this news. Gaby--I have so many wonderful memories of our days at Hamden Hall--you were a constant in my HH universe. We were 'lifers' together from Lower School through to High School, the basketball team, the hangout time in the hallway, Spanish class and so much more. You were a beautiful person, inside and out, and you will be missed. Godspeed.
