Gabriella Zacco Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel on Apr. 28, 2024.
Gabriella (Gabby) Zacco, 62, of Moraga, CA, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2024.
Born in Astoria, New York, less than one month after her parents immigrated to the United States, Gabby entered the world with her eyes open and was a force to be reckoned with from the start. She moved to Southington, CT, as a teenager and then attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA. After applying for an internship on a dare because "girls didn't do those jobs," Gabby began an incredibly accomplished career with the Drug Enforcement Administration in both the United States and Italy. While living in Milan, she met her husband, Renato, and welcomed her boys, Giorgio and Marco, into the world. They found new adventures in Shelton, CT, Rome, Italy, Moraga, CA, and Falls Church, VA, before returning to Moraga, which she affectionately called "God's Country."
In Moraga, Gabby and Renato made their mark. They became famous in the neighborhood for hosting impromptu block parties at their kitchen table, dubbed "Osteria degli Amici." She was an active volunteer in town and became a beloved member of the Moraga School District, Moraga Park Foundation, St. Monica's Catholic Church and Moraga Royale communities, to name a few. Gabby will be dearly missed and always remembered. Her zest for life was infectious and her laugh brightened every room she entered. Those who were fortunate to know Gabby felt her love fiercely and fully. She was a stranger to no one and made friends everywhere she went. Gabby was predeceased by her father, Pietro Zacco, and her in-laws, Ottorina Paredi and Giuseppe Tavecchio. She is survived by her husband, Renato, and her sons, Giorgio (Natalia) and Marco Tavecchio. Gabby is also survived by her mother, Renata, her sister, Paola (David) Barry, her niece, Marisa, nephew, Matthew, her brother-in-law, Mario (Paola) Tavecchio, her two cousins, Onella (Bernard) Gayraud and Alba (Tim) Goss and their children. Gabby also had many family membersin Italy and the United Kingdom, as well as friends, who became family, scattered around the globe.
Services will be private. Gabby truly believed in community service and connecting with others through time well spent. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations in her memory to a charity of your choosing to continue to make this world a better place.

She started each day with a smile. We were great friends in High School. She took me on my first trip to NYC and showed me how to jump on the trains. She was such a joy to be friends with and I hate we lost touch. She will always have a very soft spot in my heart. Prayers to her family.

Met Gabby when we attended Northeastern University and worked with her on the NYFD OCDETF. I am shocked she passed. She was so full of life with an infectious laugh. She dedicated her life to service, and performed admirably. She may be gone but her spirit will be with everyone she touched.
May she RIP

Very sorry to hear this. Gabby was a tremendous personality, a good agent and took care of her people. I will pray a rosary for her and her family.

Gabby was such a beautiful person, she was my boss at DEA. She had so much energy when it came to her job, always pushing herself to make this world a better place for a future without drugs.
Her laughter, her smile filled a room with joy. Her journey on this earth was an awesome one. Always in my heart.

Gabby and I met at Northeastern University and knew each other throughout our DEA careers. Gabby was sweet, outgoing, and just a lovely person. Although we haven´t seen each other in many years I will always remember her fondly. Rest in peace Gabby. You were one of kind.
