Gaetano L., "Guy" DeMelis 91, of Somers, NY, died Monday, December 16, at Northern Westchester Hospital. He was born on August 27, 1933, in Mt. Vernon, NY to the late Sabatino and Theresa DeMelis.
Guy spent the majority of his professional career as a manager of information systems for Loral Electronics Systems in Yonkers, NY.
He was an accomplished bowler (with multiple perfect games), an outdoorsman who found joy in nature (walking, hunting and fishing) and a man who cherished spending time with his friends and family, whether for a simple dinner or celebrating the holidays.
He especially enjoyed "playing Santa" on Christmas Eve for the children in the family – a tradition that he hoped would be carried on by his family after his passing.
Guy is the beloved husband of Joan (nee Brucale) and is the loving father of Guy (Erica) of Mahopac, NY, Richard of Somers, NY and John (Claudia) of Redding, CT. He is the devoted grandfather of Joseph, Amanda, Nathaniel and Lia and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY on Friday, December 20th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Rd., Somers, NY on Saturday, December 21 at 11:30 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
