Gail J. Abernathy

Gail J. Abernathy, 86, of Catasauqua, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 4, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown.

Formally of upstate New York and born in Endicott, New York, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel Champlain.

Gail worked in retail for a variety of Lehigh Valley businesses, most recently at Walmart in Whitehall.

She loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in the cabin in the Poconos. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and devoted her time to spending time with them. She loved her family and pets and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren as well as her cats and dog, Max. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Jack Mahoney and wife Barbara, daughter Anne M. Hibshman and husband Joel and son Gary Abernathy, grandchildren Alysha, Emily, Rachel, Matthew and Kristin, great grandchild Angelina and one on the way. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

Memorial Service with reception following at Union Lutheran Church, Family Life Center, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville, PA. 18078. Saturday, September 27, 2025. Service begins at 2:30 pm.
