Publish in a newspaper

Gail Mazzantini Carter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on October 15, 2025. She was born in Galveston, Texas, on August 25, 1953, to the late Nick and Martha Mazzantini. Gail lived a life marked by faith, service, and an unwavering devotion to her family and community.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Carter; her children, Nick Carter and wife Lauren, Kristen Sublett and husband Tyler, and Jarrod Carter and wife Stacy; and her cherished grandchildren, Bailey, Brooke, Landry, Ben, Everett, Carter, Hayden, Laurel, and Gray. She is also survived by extended family members and a host of dear friends whose lives were deeply enriched by her presence.

Gail was a 1971 graduate of La Marque High School, where she distinguished herself as a Cheerleader, DAR Representative, Student Government Officer, Homecoming Court Member, and Most Outstanding Senior Girl. A gifted athlete, she was a three-time All-State fastpitch softball player with the Galveston Islandettes, helping lead the team to three state championships.

She continued her education at Southwest Texas State University, where she earned numerous honors, including the Sallie Baretta Award for Most Outstanding Senior Woman. She was also nominated for the LBJ Outstanding Senior Award and the Gaillardian Award. An active campus leader, she served as dorm president and held multiple offices in the Women's Recreation Association. She graduated in 1974 with a degree in health education and began her teaching career at La Marque High School, where she met her future husband, John.

Gail's life was grounded in her faith and commitment to others. In La Marque, she dedicated her career to serving children, providing not only education but compassion and care. She was an active member of La Marque Baptist Church. In 1995, she and John relocated to Lubbock, where she worked at Matthews Alternative High School and continued her faithful service as a member and nursery volunteer at Bacon Heights Baptist Church. Even in retirement, she remained devoted to serving others, holding leadership roles in the Texas Retired Teachers Association and volunteering with Bible Study Fellowship.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, November 08, 2025, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque, Texas.
