Gail Canada Cooley

Gail Canada Cooley, 59, of Alpine, AL passed away on Sunday, November 03, 2024. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 06, 2024 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Jeff Rutledge officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the service at Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cooley was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County and graduated from Winterboro High School in 1983. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mrs. Cooley retired from the United States Post Office as Post Master after over 30 years of service. She enjoyed having fun and spending time with her friends and family. She was known for her feisty spirit, and she always spoke her mind. Her bright smile and contagious laugh were just a testament to the way that she always lived her life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Frances Canada; husband, Howard Cooley; nephew, Jonathan Vasta, and brother-in-law, Gary Wyatt.
Mrs. Cooley is survived by her children, Preston Cooley (Lindsey), Jessica Rice (Nick), Jason Cooley, Kalie Mitchell (Michael), and Chase Holmes (Mary Alice); fiancé, Shane Holmes; grandchildren, Kaylee, Jayden, and Caleb; brother, Dale Canada (Jamie); sisters, Sandi Pierce (Sammy), Nancy Wyatt, Glenda Bishop (Larry), and Peggy Vasta (John) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jared Bishop, Justin Wyatt, Keith Davidson, Cody Hurst, Grant Hurst, and Johnathan Weldon will serve as pallbearers.
Sammy Pierce, Larry Bishop, John Vasta, Jeremy Reaves, Josh Bishop, and Cody Bishop, Alan Dykes, Lynwood Robertson, and Joseph Jansenius will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Cooley's family asks that donations be made in her honor to Down Syndrome Alabama at www.downsyndromealabama.org.
