Gail Renee Gallegos-Meraz of Del City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on June 3, 2022, at the age of 57. Renee was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Raymond Edgar Marler and Alma Estelle Romine soon July 1, 1964. Until her retirement, Renee had a rewarding career in the nursing field.
Renee's family, especially her children, were her entire world. In her younger years, Renee worked very hard as a single mother, always ensuring her kids had everything they needed. She was a supportive and loving mom whose favorite thing in the world was being with her children and her precious grandchildren. She was always involved with their school activities and sports and kept a collection of the medals they had won, displaying them loudly and proudly. While she was still active and able, Renee went to all the kids' ballgames, and you could often hear her shouting gleefully from the stands, "Hit one for Granny!" Her grandchildren simply adored her and constantly begged to go over to Granny's for a visit.
Renee had an impressive collection of rooster figurines, and she loved the color purple and enjoyed adding new purple things to her collection. She also loved celebrating the holidays each year. She enjoyed the family tradition of Thanksgivings at Golden Corral, and she especially looked forward to getting everyone together for Christmastime. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and Renee preferred her food "well done", often purposely burning dinner, to the good-natured chagrin of her kids and grandkids, who learned to love Granny's burnt food. Renee was warm, loving, and generous, the kind of lady that would literally give you the shirt right off her back. Her giving heart touched the lives of many, and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Renee is preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers, Rodney, Johnny, and Raymond, one grandson, Drew, an infant daughter, Estelle, and her beloved dog, Bella.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, two daughters, Jennifer Avelar and husband Rudy, and Mary Catlett, and a son, Filberto "BJ" Lugo and wife Emily, along with her grandchildren Bryce, Christian, Cortez, Adrian, Gabriel, Amiah, Harley, Reyna, Mikey, Josiah, Kingston, and Easton, and a host of other loving extended family and friends.
