Sara Jeraldean Edwards was born on May 10, 1960, and passed from this life on September 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Sara was an avid outdoorswoman who found peace and fulfillment in nature. She especially loved fishing, especially with her husband, Gary, and the grandkids. Though she had no problem baiting her hook with minnows, worms were another story altogether. She was always happy to catch a fish, but someone else better be ready to unhook it! Sara also loved camping and going on family vacations, cherishing every moment spent around a campfire or at the lake.
In her quieter moments, she enjoyed doing puzzles and Sudoku. Watching her grandchildren play baseball and softball brought her endless joy.
Sara also loved a good TV show, with favorites being Chicago Fire, General Hospital, and All My Children. When it came to movies, few could top Urban Cowboy and Dirty Dancing, both of which she could quote from memory.
She had a passion for live music and enjoyed attending concerts and trying her luck at the casino. Her music tastes were diverse, but she especially loved classic rock and country, with Elvis Presley and Aerosmith at the top of her playlist. Two songs she could often be heard singing along to were "Amazing" by Aerosmith and "Wall of Tears" by KT Oslin. Her love for singing dated back to her choir days in school and continued throughout her life.
Sara had a love for food, especially Mexican dishes, Hawaiian rolls, blackened fish, and burritos from Los Tacos. Her favorite restaurants included Nino's, Western Sizzlin, and Taco Bell. At home, she was known for her goulash, spaghetti, and her famous tabouli-a dish friends and family will long remember.
She attended Moore High School and was known for her sense of humor and her ability to lift the spirits of those around her. She was the heart of her family, always caring, always present. She stepped up to care for her uncle with special needs and supported her sister after the loss of her husband. She lived her love out loud, not just in words, but in action.
Some of the family's favorite memories include weekend trips to Lake Okemah and countless camping adventures. Her favorite anniversary was her 40th, celebrated at "Kiss Me on the Creek" in Broken Bow. One of her most cherished family vacations was in 2020, in Biloxi, Mississippi, where they spent the week swimming, playing Wahoo (as long as she was winning), and enjoying the casino together.
At the age of 18, Sara became a member of the Catholic Church, receiving her baptismal name: Sara Mary Jeraldean.
Sara was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her sense of humor, warm heart, and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; daughter, Jill Edwards, and her husband, Sachin Nair; stepdaughter, Gwen Yarborough, and her husband, James; nine grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and sisters, Joann Richardson, Audrey Radcliff and her husband, Jim, and Stephanie Sanders.
Sara is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Gladys Sanders; infant daughter, Tommie Sanders; son, Jack Edwards; brother, Darrell "Ray" Sanders; sister, Samantha; and brother-in-law, Gary Richardson.
Though she may no longer walk beside us, Sara's laughter, love, and legacy will continue to shine in the lives she touched.
