Gail Branson Slack

Gail Branson Githens Slack, of Southampton, passed away on November 23, 2025.

Daughter of the late Howard and Helen Githens, Gail was born October 30, 1944, in Mount Holly, NJ. She was a lifelong Southampton resident. Gail attended Lenape High School graduating in 1962. Gail was also graduate of Peirce School of Business Administration in Philadelphia. Gail worked as the secretary for the Vincentown United Methodist Church for 38 years prior to her retirement. She was also a 6th generation member of the Vincentown United Methodist Church since 1957. During her time as a member of the church she served as the Sunday School Superintendent, the Secretary for the United Methodist Women, the Secretary of Church Council, and the VBS Director. Gail was also the charter member of the Southampton Historical Society. In 1977, Gail became a member of the Board of Directors of the Githens Center, in Mount Holly, a private school for developmentally disabled children and youth. She served as Secretary of the Board of Directors for 41 years. Githens Center was founded by her mother, Helen M. Githens, and Dr. Vernon Davis, orthopedist, in 1954, becoming the first facility in Burlington County to provide therapy to children with special needs.

Gail is predeceased by her husband Gerald F. Slack. The two were married for 34 years prior to his passing in 2000. Gail is also predeceased by her daughter Gretchen Slack and her brother Jimmy Githens. Gail is survived by her daughters Melissa Slack, and Claudia Dengler (Ted), her grandchildren Nicholas Dengler, Jacob Dengler, Hannah Dengler, Devan Moore, and Brayden Moore.

In keeping with Gail's wishes funeral services will be held privately at a later date.
