Gail Slagle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service on Mar. 6, 2026.
Gail Maney Slagle of Dillsboro passed away on March 4, 2026.

Gail was born in Bryson City, North Carolina, on November 7, 1938, to the late George and Helen Maney. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, she spent many years working for Skyland Textiles/Buster Brown. She also worked in daycare and at the Riverside Drive-In, which was owned and operated by her parents.

In her younger years, Gail was an avid bowler who loved games and friendly competition. She cherished time spent with family and especially enjoyed gathering for meals at Bill's house. Gail will be remembered for her wonderful stories, her competitive spirit, and the love she shared with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Gail is survived by her husband, Tom Slagle, of the home; her sisters, Phyllis McDowell, Connie Cunningham (Stanley), and Donna Hall (Tommy); her brothers, Ken Maney (Sandy), George Maney Jr. (Arlene), and Gary Maney; her stepdaughter, Anne Caywood (Scott); and the light of her life, her great-granddaughter, Harper Solomon. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Warren; her daughter, Sandra Dulin; her grandson, Caleb Solomon; and her sisters, Peggy Maney and Pat Rose.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 3:00 PM at Old Savannah Baptist Church in Sylva. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Austin Frady.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Old Savannah Baptist Church Missions Fund.

Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service of Maggie Valley, NC is caring for the family and the online register is available at www.smokymountaincremations.com.
