Gaines Calhoun Granade, 91, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on September 16, 2025. He was born on February 19, 1934, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Swann Granade.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Gaines leaves behind three daughters: Beverly Liebert, Carolyn Holbrook, and Sharon Granade. He was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, the great-grandfather of seventeen, and the great-great-grandfather of one cherished child. His family was his greatest joy, and he adored every moment spent with them.

Gaines attended Auburn University before graduating from Mercer University. He later pursued his legal studies at John Marshall Law School. For more than 50 years, he practiced law in the Atlanta area, earning recognition from the Georgia State Bar Association with a certificate honoring his half-century of dedicated service to the profession. His commitment to justice and integrity touched countless lives throughout his career.

In addition to his legal work, Gaines was active in public service, proudly serving in the House of Representatives in the Georgia Assembly. Beyond his career, he lived his life with faith at the center. Gaines was deeply involved in his church community and enjoyed many years playing softball in the church league, a pastime that brought him much joy and fellowship.

Those who knew Gaines will remember his steadfast character, devotion to his faith, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy of service, integrity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Gaines was a great father and will be missed terrible by those who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
