Obituary
Gale A. (Carner) Roach, 70, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. Gale was born in New Harmony on April 20, 1953, the daughter of Cecil Barritt and Helen Carner.
Gale retired from the Mt. Vernon School District after working many years as a custodian. Gale enjoyed and was passionate about collecting Native American items. She also liked the mountains and the beaches. Gale had a green thumb and always had a porch full of beautiful flowers and other plants around her house. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon. However, spending time with her husband, Mike, of 53 years, her children, grandchildren, and her other family was her greatest joy.
Gale is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Micheal Roach, Jr. and Stephanie (Billy) Robb; grandchildren, Seth Nelson (Kelsey Schmittler), Madison Roach, and Jonathan Robb; great-grandchildren, Savannah Nelson, and Landen Nelson; other extended grandchildren, Chelsey East, Mason Holbrook, Hunter and Kloe Robb, extended great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Brooklyn, and Jaxson Gunter, mother of grandchildren, Sharon Roach; and siblings, Tomi Copher and Alan Barritt, nieces and nephews, and her very best friend, Sandy Easley.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the funeral home, with Eric Padgett officiating. Committal service will follow at Bethsaida Cemetery in Stewartsville. Visitation will occur on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to New Life Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
