Father Galenos John Pilafas

Father Galenos John Pilafas passed away on April 13th at the age of 67. He grew up in Waukegan then moved to San Diego at 13 years old. He came back to the Chicago area after graduating from college. Where he lived here until his death. He was a Greek Orthodox Priest for the Chicago Diocese. Father John was one who was always ready to help those in need. He was a loving and caring priest. He served at various parishes when needed. He had many medical challenges from diabetes and kidney cancer. He graduated from UCSD with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Biology and Russian History then Graduated from Holy Cross Seminary with a Master's degree in Theology. He then graduated with a PHD in Psychology and became a Therapist. He is preceded in death by his parents Iris and George Pilafas, his sister Elaine Pilafas Geschke and his nephew Christopher Pilafas Geschke. He left behind his two sisters Georganne Pilafas Osborn and Athanasia Dracos Christopulos Pilafas-Millward and his Brother-in-law Paul Millward. Along with many nieces and nephews and a great niece and 2 great nephews. In lieu of flowers please donate to Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
