Garnet Farris, 91 years old, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Aunt was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on March 16, 1932, born to Arah and James Herford, in Westlake, LA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Baker. She passionately served in Order of the Eastern Star for many years. She was a former Clerk of Court for the City of Baker for many years.
Garnet is survived by her 2 sons, Ronald Farris and Donald Farris; daughter, Carrie "Jeanie" Ledoux; 6 grandchildren, Randee, Jessica, Jamie, Dwayne, Trevor, and Ryann; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special pet, Tom Cat.
Garnet is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Farris; parents James and Arah Herford; grandchild, Ash-Leigh Farris; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Jay Avance. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
