It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Garrett Mills (37) on January 11, 2025 at his home in Rosenberg, Texas. Garrett was born in Wharton, Texas on September 3, 1987 and immediately became the center of his parents' world. Garrett graduated from Smithson Valley High School in 2006. While in high school, he was active in FFA with his steer and swine projects for the San Antonio Livestock Show and Comal County Jr. Livestock Show. Garrett will be remembered for his humor, giant heart, and beautiful red hair, as well as his love of the San Antonio Spurs, Texas Longhorns, the smell of a new book, all things dinosaurs, and WWE. Garrett's love for April Fool's Day and Halloween was evident by the many practical jokes he played on his Mom every April 1st and the refusal to give out bite size candies to trick-or-treaters. Only full-size candy bars would do. His "adopted brothers" brought him so much joy and excitement, and always treated him like a true brother. He never knew the adventures they had planned, but was always up for it. The loving heart he had for his niece and nephew was huge. Between always letting Hudson perch on his shoulders playing hunting games on his phone, to being the best "girl uncle" and watching all of Jessi's favorite Disney movies with her, to sitting in the bleachers beaming with pride at many of their rodeos. His love for them ran deep. Family meant the world to Garrett and he loved the times spent with everyone at the ranch, during holidays, on vacations or at breakfast after Sunday Mass.
Garrett is survived by his mom, Cindy Pittman (Randall) of Rosenberg; dad, Jaye Mills of Richmond; brothers, Matthew Mills (Candice) of El Campo; and Coleman Nock (Tresur & son) of Blanco; Paternal Grandfather, Jack Mills; Aunts & Uncles, Jeff Nohavitza (Susan); Clay Nohavitza; Vicki Gold (Ralph); and Terri Duncan (Brian); Niece & Nephew, Jessi & Hudson Mills; and cousins, Denya Ardis (Harris); Chance Nohavitza (Taylor); Natalie Nohavitza; Creed Nohavitza; Stella Nohavitza; Bryan Gold (Rebecca); Staci Gold; Justin Gold; Brandee Bond (Justin); Scott Duncan (Erica); and Chelsea Selesky (Frank).
Garrett was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Donald & Rosemary Nohavitza; Paternal Grandmother, Margaret Mills; and his beloved dog, Snuff.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM on Monday, January 20, 2025 at St. John's Catholic Church in New Taiton. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 with the Funeral Mass to begin at 2:00 PM. Rev. Gabriel Oduro Tawiah will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Gold, Justin Bond, Chance Nohavitza, Creed Nohavitza, Coleman Nock, Trey Reinhart, and Jarrett Bray. Honorary Pallbearers are his cousins: Staci Gold, Justin Gold, Denya & Harris Ardis, Scott & Erica Duncan, Brandee Bond, Rebecca Gold, Chelsea & Frank Selesky, Natalie Nohavitza, Stella Nohavitza, & Taylor Nohavitza.
The loss of Garrett will forever be felt in the hearts of those who knew him & loved him, and his memory will live on forever.
